The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19
Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Tuesday at the Monchy Playing Field
with one match where St Mary's College completed a convincing victory over
Bocage Secondary.
A ruthless bowling spell by seamer Kester Charlemagne of St Mary's College
destroyed Bocage Secondary's batting as they were skidded out for 47 in 11.2
overs, with Calixtus George 12, the only batsman to reach double figures.
Kester Charlemagne bowled impressively for St Mary's College extracting good
pace and bounce from the surface. He finished with outstanding figures of 7
for 24 in 6 overs. The other wicket takers were Darcie Popo and Paulcus
Joseph with 1 wicket each.
Chasing 48 for victory, St Mary's College quickly knocked off the runs
finishing on 48 without loss in just 4.1 overs, with the opening batsmen
Rahym Joseph and Simeon Gerson finishing on 23 not out and 6 not out
respectively.
Three more matches are left to be played to complete the preliminary round
matches. On Thursday in Group E, Ciceron Secondary and Leon Hess
Comprehensive play each other and in Group A, Vieux Fort Comprehensive La
Ressource comes up against Piaye Secondary at the Piaye Playing Field. On
Monday in Group D, Vide Bouteille Secondary plays Marigot Secondary at the
Gros Islet Playing Field.
