Only one of the two scheduled quarter-final matches took place on Wednesday,
as the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance
Under-19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued. At the Monchy Playing Field,
the match between Clendon Mason Memorial and Ciceron Secondary was called
off due to rain and will now take place on Thursday, at the Dennery Playing
Field.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, St Mary's College advanced into the
semi-final stage of the tournament after completing a 44 run victory over
Piaye Secondary. The game had to be reduced to a 25 over a side due to rain.
St Mary's College batting first, reached 165 for 7 in their allotted 25
overs, with Jard Goodman stroking 51, Quane Henry 29 and Benroy Papin 15 not
out. Bowling for Piaye Secondary, Mathius Henry 3 for 39 in 5 overs and
Yarnick Osman 2 for 30 in 5 overs.
Chasing a victory target of 166, Piaye Secondary was dismissed for 121 in
the 22nd over, with Nick Andrew smashing 50 and Mathius Henry 37.
For St Mary's College, Kester Charlemagne bowled impressively, finishing
with 4 for 7 in 5 overs.
The Massy United Insurance man of the match went to St Mary's College's
opener Jard Goodman for a well played half century.
On Thursday in two scheduled matches, Gros Islet Secondary comes up against
Corinth Secondary at the Gros Islet Playing Field and at the Monchy Playing
Field, Sir Arthur Lewis plays Vide Bouteille Secondary.
