JEDDAH CHAMPIONS TROPHY SEASON V

The fifth season of Jeddah Champions Trophy cricket tournament, organized by team Azizia Deccan and sponsored by Ford-Al Jazirah Vehicles took-off here at Sulemania grounds recently.
The tournament has become a popular means of entertainment among the expat community and a perfect stage for those willing to showcase their cricketing potential. With as many as 40 teams registering for the tournament from all corners of the city, this season is all set to become one of the longest tournaments in the cricketing fraternity of Jeddah. With a total of 111 matches scheduled to be played over three months with the final on Nov.20, it provides ample opportunity for every team to give their best and lay their hands on the prestigious trophy.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, the Chairman of JCT Ali Mohammed Khan attributed the instant success of the tournament to the support it has received from the teams, sponsors and the hard work of every individual linked to it.
A total of 36 matches have already been played during the first 3 weeks, and with 44 matches still to be played during the next 4 weeks, every team has a fair chance of making it to the knockouts, which start on Oct.16.
With the Haj season coinciding the tournament schedule, there will be a two-week layoff to avoid any players missing out on the action due to Haj pilgrimage.
