Lounge Cricket Rules and Regulations

Tournament Format

The tournament shall be held in two phases:
1.League Phase
2.Playoffs

In the league phase, all the teams play against each other in a round robin format. A win shall fetch the team 3 points and a loss shall fetch 0 points. In case the match ends in a draw, the winner shall be decided by a super over.
At the end of the league phase, the top 4 teams shall enter into a playoff phase. The winner of this phase shall be the Lounge Cricket Champion for this season.
Playoff Phase shall be held as is done in IPL and has been explained to the owners.

Match Format
Each match shall follow the test match format as is followed by ICC. Hence the same rules apply. Only the exceptions are mentioned below:
1.There is no over limit. However, any bowler cannot come to bowl a second time unless all the other players have bowled. Also, the cyclic format followed shall have to remain intact.
2.Follow on rule: In case the team batting second is not able to make at least half the score posted by the opponents in the first innings, the opponent team can choose to enforce a follow on.

Super Over
In case of a tie, the result shall be achieved by a super over. The Super Over is a reduced version of the match that consists only of one over (six balls) and two wickets for each team.
1.Each team bats one over.
2.The team batting second in the main match will bat first in the Super Over.
3.The loss of two wickets ends the team's innings

How can a batsman be out?
The batsman can be deemed out by the umpire if any of the following holds true:
1.Clean bowled
2.Caught
3.One Drop, One Hand, One Attempt
The batsman can also be out if the fielder takes a catch with one hand which has touched the floor only once. However, the fielder should not fumble and take it clean in one attempt without support from any other part of the body.
5.If the batsman hits the ball directly to any of the 4 walls, or the ceiling, or the furniture, tv, and other objects kept in the lounge, he shall be OUT.
6.Rule of three body hits or misses
If the batsman does not touch the ball with his bat on three occasions, not necessarily in a consecutive fashion, he shall be deemed OUT by the umpire.

How can a batsman score runs?
Runs can be scored in only one way. Each time a batsman plays a ball with his bat first and does not get OUT, 1 run shall be added to the teams score.

Bowling Rules

1.No fast bowling allowed. The speed of the delivery should be moderate and the umpire holds complete discretion to rule a delivery as a fast one. A fast ball shall be considered a No ball.
2.Only underarm bowling allowed. However, the ball should leave the bowler's hand only above his shoulder height.


No Ball rules

A no ball shall be called by the umpire under the following scenarios:
1. Overstepping the bowling crease
2. A delivery which is a bouncer and above batsman's shoulder height shall be a no ball.
3. A full toss above the batsman's waist height shall also be a no ball
4. A fast ball called by the umpire shall also be a no ball.

In case of a no ball, one run shall be awarded to the batting team.

Wide Rules
The team shall be awarded 1 run for each wide bowled by the bowler.
