Rules for Under-19 Cricket Competition

Control of this competition shall be vested in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.

1. All players participating in this competition must be under-19 years of age on the 1st September in the year of the competition.

2. Subject to special conditions incorporated in these rules all matches shall be played under the ?Laws of Cricket? as laid down by the MCC at the time.

3. All matches shall consist of one innings per side, each innings being limited to 50 overs. Matches shall be completed on the same day.

4. In the event of a delayed start or interruption in play this limit shall be reduced at the rate of one over for every four (4) minutes or part thereof.

5. If the innings of the side batting first is completed partway through an over, that over shall be deemed to have been completed. However, if for any reason a bowler is unable to complete an over, another player shall complete the over. This player shall not have bowled the previous over, and shall not bowl for the following over. Any over commenced and not completed for any reason at the end of an innings shall be deemed to have been completed for the purposes of calculating run rates.

6. If the innings of the side batting second is delayed or is interrupted the overs shall be reduced at the rate of one over for every four minutes or part thereof lost.

7. No bowler is allowed to bowl more than one fifth (1/5) of the total number of overs of any innings.

8. A FREE HIT shall be allowed for every food fault or ?No Ball?.


9. The Result:

The team scoring the higher amount of runs or the higher target score set by the umpires shall be the winner.

If the team batting second has not been dismissed, neither have they passed their opponents? core, the match shall be decided on the average runs per over providing that the team batting second has faced at least 20 overs.

If the team batting second has not faced at least 20 overs, nor has been all out, neither has it passed the opponents? score the match shall be a No Decision.

10. For a match to be constituted the team batting second must have had the opportunity to bat at least 20 overs or has been dismissed in less than 20 overs.

11. The lunch break shall be taken between innings and shall not exceed 30 minutes. If play is interrupted for more than 90 minutes the interval between innings shall not exceed 10 minutes.

12. Hours of play shall be from 9:30am ? 5:00pm.

13. Umpires, Captains and Coaches should ensure that overs are bowled at the rate of at least 15 overs per hour.

14. No fast bowler shall bowl more than 6 consecutive overs per spell.

In addition to rule No. 15, the following shall apply:

? Any pace or medium pace bowler who bowl a spell of 2 consecutive overs shall have a mandatory rest period of 4 overs;

? Any pace or medium pace bowler who bowl a spell of 3 consecutive overs shall have a mandatory rest period of 6 overs;

? Any pace or medium pace bowler who bowl a spell of 4 consecutive overs shall have a mandatory rest period of 8 overs;

? Any pace or medium pace bowler who bowl a spell of 5 consecutive overs shall have a mandatory rest period of 10 overs;

? Any pace or medium pace bowler who bowl a spell of 6 consecutive overs shall have a mandatory rest period of 10 overs.

15. In the event of teams finishing on equal points in the group, the placing shall be decided in the following order of priority:

a) The most wins in the Group matches;
b) When teams have both equal wins and points, the team that was the winner of the Group match played between them shall be placed in the higher position;
c) If still undecided the team with the highest rate of runs per wicket lost in the Group matches shall be placed in the higher position. (Only completed matches shall be considered);
d) If still undecided the team with the higher Net Run Rate in the Group matches shall be placed in the higher position.

Net Run Rate

A team?s Net Run Rate shall be calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team, the average runs per over scored against that team.

POINTS:

Win : 4 points
Tie : 2 points
No Decision : 1 point




The top two teams in each group qualify for the Knockout stage of the competition.

Winner of Group A plays 2nd place in Group B

Winner of Group B plays 2nd place in Group E

Winner of Group C plays 2nd place in Group D

Winner of Group D plays 2nd place in Group A

Winner of Group E plays 2nd place in Group C
