Two matches were played on Friday as the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19 School Cricket Tournament continued. Victories were recorded for Vide Bouteille Secondary over Sir Ira Simmons and Clendon Mason Memorial over George Charles Secondary.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Vide Bouteille Secondary defeated Sir Ira Simmons by 3 wickets. Batting first, Sir Ira Simmons was dismissed for 161 in 33.3 overs with Dane Edward 48 and Malik Lionel 19 the main contributors. For Vide Bouteille Secondary, the wickets were shared among Millan Jules with 4 for 18 in 5.3 overs, Avalinus Callender 3 for 29 in 5 overs, Sanjay Hayles 2 for 36 in 9 overs and 1 wicket to Janai Thomas. Chasing 162 for victory, Vide Bouteille finished on 165 for 7 in the 21st over with Earlan St Prix stroking 45 and Millan Jules 42. Bowling for Sir Ira Simmons, Tyler Sookwa 2 for 28 in 3 overs, Dane Edward 2 for 30 in 4.3 overs, Johnnel Eugene 2 for 53 in 6 overs and 1 wicket to Malik Lionel.
At the Dennery Playing Field, Clendon Mason Memorial completed a 39 run victory over George Charles Secondary. Taking first knock, Clendon Mason led by Nixon Edmund with 69 and 21 from Susan Laurent made 154 all out in 17.5 overs.
Bowling for George Charles Secondary, Shookan Barnette 4 for 71 in 7 overs, Nicholas Joseph 3 for 16 in 4 overs and Daniel Alphonse 2 for 35 in 4 overs. In reply, George Charles Secondary was bowled out for 115 in the 22nd over with Louis Thomas making 17. For Clendon Mason the main wicket takers were, Saffan Laurant who picked up 5 for 28 in 5 overs and Nixon Edmund 3 for 12 in 5.1 overs.
