Warm up: 4 Things to learn from RR vs MB

Warm up: 4 Things to learn from RR vs MB

30/Apr/2017

It was a intense match. What should have been a easy win for RR turned out to be last over thriller. RR defeats MB by 2 wickets chasing 153 in 19.4 overs. Here are 4 things that we learnt from the match:

1.Kohli-Khadka : a great opening combination
It was obvious Kohli will open but with whom. Paras greatly partnered with kohli to take team to win. They shared a opening partnership of 110 runs in 79 balls. RR needed 43 from 41 balls at that stage. Paras missed out his half century and he did play a stable inning. Kohli departed first scoring 59(44).

2.Pandya brother wicket fest
RR was sure to win but pandya brothers ensured RR had hard time wiining. H Pandya took 5 wickets in 3 overs conceding 16. Krunal took 2.Except for that it wasn't a day for other MB bowlers.

3.Bowling and middle order problem for RR
RR looked the most balanced side. Great opening partnership but a pathetic middle order.
Losing 8 wickets in span of 30 balls scoring 35. De villers failed today. Had it not been andre russel, MB could have created a upset. Bowling unit of RR had a good economical bowling but wicket taking is what creates more pressure to opposition. Maybe its too early to say it but bowlers have to take wickets anyhow.

4. Opening pair disorder and middle order perfection

MB had a dismal start to the inning.Losing both openers in just 5 overs. Middle order took them to a respectable total but it was 10-15 run less than par.

Overall a great match.
